Recognising Women’s Contributions Around the World

Every year on 8 March, Aussie Association of Somalia (AAS) joins communities around the world in celebrating International Women’s Day. This important occasion recognises the achievements, leadership, resilience and valuable contributions of women and girls in building stronger families, communities and societies.

Celebrating Women’s Achievements and Leadership

AAS recognises the important role women play in education, healthcare, humanitarian response, community development, entrepreneurship and leadership. Women are essential contributors to social and economic progress, and their knowledge, skills and experiences deserve recognition and appreciation.

Through its work with communities, AAS acknowledges the strength and potential of women and girls and the importance of creating opportunities for them to participate meaningfully in society.

Promoting Girls’ Education and Women’s Empowerment

International Women’s Day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of girls’ education, equal opportunities and women’s empowerment. AAS believes that every girl deserves access to quality education and every woman should have opportunities to develop her abilities, pursue her ambitions and contribute to community development.
